V0.15 Tell me a story

V0.15 is here and it brings some fun little things. As mentioned last time, we've started working on the vertical game play. The first thing we've done to address that is the large towers that appear on the desert/military style maps. From now on when they spawn they will always rotate to face the center of the map. This should ensure that the player can sneak around behind them and go up the tower to fire at the AI. Other changes are going to be made, including additional terrain pieces that the both the player and AI can use to gain a height advantage.

The second major item we've added this update is the beginnings of a story. There is now a bit of an intro cinematic, and this update introduces our announcer. The setting for this game is a dystopian future game show where people are made to, or given an opportunity to fight their way to glory or freedom. Of course, this is broadcast as a reality/game style TV show. The announcer appears in the intro to set-up the player's participation in this, but the announcer will also appear as a pop-up during game play for different events.

Currently only one event is enabled, and that is getting through a map without taking any damage. This is currently set to fire 100% of the time you complete the task, but in the final version it won't. This is just to give people a taste of what it will look like. For our next version we'll probably include several additional pop-ups for the announcer.

Once the game is nearing completion and a full script has been finalized, we'll look at getting voice actors for the parts we're going to have.
