V0.17 You like big booms and you cannot lie?


It took us a few days, but V0.17 is here with some additions and improvements. 

First up: Melee attackers have had their animations and movements tweaked a bit. They no longer use the player dash mechanic and now have a forward tactical roll they'll use in some cases to close the distance between them and the player. Additional animations and methods of closing the distance are being worked on as well now. 

Second: A new weapon. Grenade launcher. This weapon is unlocked at 3500 points. It's set up to bounce 1 and then explode. This gives you an opportunity to fire it around corners, bounce it off walls, etc. if you strike an enemy unit it will explode without a bounce. The blast radius on this is smaller than a barrel, at 3 meters vs 5 meters, however if you get a 5x damage power up the blast radius will be increased from 3 m to 5m for the duration of that power-up. Keep that in mind if you are firing at something close to you. 

Thirdly: The Treehouse is out for now. The stairs were proving far too problematic for AI navigation. They're a bit too narrow and increasing the size along with other things was making a large item even larger. It may be brought back if navigation can be improved on the stairs. In its place we have a new green theme tower that will be used on forest maps. This is similar to the large metal tower used on the desert maps, but of a different design. 

As an aside, you now have to press the 'F' key to ascend and descent towers. Stand next to the ladder and press F to activate the teleport. This will give the player some control over going up and down, and allows you to more easily navigate the upper area without worrying about tripping the teleport. 

Fourthly: We've added a new terrain feature in the forest map. this is a large waterfall set with attached hill area. This is completely navigable by the AI. So do plan to see them up there. Even though it raises you up along the wall, you should not be able to jump out (if you can please let us know how) and in the future we're going to be adding a roof system to the maps along with new lights and environment effects.
